Premier League Matchday 30 June 21 Betting Preview

Newcastle vs Sheffield United

Time: 9:00 AM EST

Odds: Newcastle +230, Draw +210, Sheffield United +135

Last Game: Sheffield United 0 : 2 Newcastle

Watch: NBCSN

Newcastle sit in 14th when they return to Premier League action.  With only two losses in their last six, Newcastle now sit eight points above the drop zone.  Sean Longstaff and Matthew Longstaff are listed as doubtful and will be assessed closer to game time.

Sheffield United sit in 7th following Wolverhampton’s win yesterday.  A win here would see Sheffield jump into 5th place and a European spot.  John Fleck and Jack O’Connell are both listed as doubtful with Fleck the more likely to play.

This matchup has favored Newcastle historically, seeing them take four wins and one draw from six matches.  Newcastle’s home games have been low scoring affairs this year with the club ranked last in goals for at home and 1st in fewest goals against.  Sheffield’s away matches have been a similar story with the club scoring the 5th fewest goals away but allowing the 2nd fewest against.  Everything here points to a physical low scoring affair with a draw looking likely.

Aston Villa vs Chelsea

Time: 11:15 AM EST

Odds: Aston Villa +550, Draw +360, Chelsea -200

Last Game: Chelsea 2 : 1 Aston Villa

Watch: NBCSN

Aston Villa enter this match following a controversial 0-0 draw at home against Sheffield United in midweek.  The Villains remain in 19th and sit just a point from safety.  Tom Heaton and Wesley have been ruled out while Danny Drinkwater is doubtful with a knock.

Chelsea return to Premiere League action in 4th place, two points ahead of 5th place Manchester United.  Jorginho is suspended and Fikayo Tomori has been ruled out, while Rece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi are listed as doubtful.

This marks Chelsea’s first trip to Villa since 2016, when they won 4-0.  Chelsea have performed well away at Villa winning five of the previous six matches played there.  Villa have struggled defensively at home allowing the 4th most goals against.  Chelsea meanwhile have scored the 2nd most goals away from home.  Chelsea look likely to get their restart off to a strong start with a win in this one.

Everton vs Liverpool

Time: 2:00 PM EST

Odds: Everton +500, Draw +300, Liverpool -170

Last Game: Liverpool 5 : 2 Everton

Watch: NBC

Everton find themselves in 12th place as the Premier League resumes.  Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun have been ruled out for the hosts while Yerry Mina and Bernard are listed as doubtful.

Champions in waiting Liverpool could secure their first Premier League title with a win here and a loss by Manchester City tomorrow.  Xherdan Shaqiri has been ruled out and talisman Mohamed Salah is listed as doubtful with a knock.

The Mersyside Derby has ended in a stalemate five of the last six times it’s been played at Everton, with Liverpool winning the one match not ending in a draw.  Of those draws three have ended 0-0.  Everton haven’t managed to beat Liverpool in 21 straight matches, with their last win coming back in 2010.  Everton have performed well at home this year where they’re ranked 7th in fewest goals allowed.  Liverpool have played extremely well on the road and have allowed the fewest goals against away.  This looks to be another close fought low scoring Mersyside Derby, with Liverpool having the edge.
