Bundesliga Matchday 33 June 20 Betting Preview

Hoffenheim vs 1. FC Union Berlin

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: Hoffenheim -180, Draw +330, 1. FC Union Berlin +470

Last Game: 1. FC Union Berlin 0 : 2 Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim enter this match following a 3-1 win away at Augsburg.  Hoffenheim enter this matchweek in 7th, tied with 6th place Wolfsburg on points but behind in goal differential.  Benjamin Hübner returns from suspension for this match and Sargis Adamyan is doubtful with an ankle injury.

Union Berlin enter this game following a 1-0 away win at Paderborn and now sit in 12th place, safe from relegation.  Motivation for Union will come from being tied with cross town rival Hertha Berlin, currently in 11th, on points.  Finishing ahead of Hertha would put the cherry on a successful first year in the Bundesliga for Union.   Robert Andrich returns from suspension while Christopher Lenz is doubtful with an ankle knock.

The meeting between these two sides earlier was their first ever, so there’s not much history to go on here.  Hoffenheim have been one of the hottest teams in the Bundesliga of late, with only one loss in their last six.  Hoffenheim’s home form has been poor of late however, they’ve lost four of their last six.  Union Berlin has shaken off their poor run of form since the restart and have now won two in a row and are unbeaten in their last three.  These sides are comparable defensively but Hoffenheim have a slight edge offensively.  Hoffenheim will have more motivation for the win here and that might just be what gives them enough to get a win here.

FSV MAINZ 05 vs Werder Bremen

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: FSV Mainz 05 +150, Draw +250, Werder Bremen +170

Last Game: Werder Bremen 0 : 5 FSV Mainz 05

FSV Mainz 05 enter this game following a shock 2-0 win away at Dortmund last week.  Mainz currently sit in 15th, but with a five point cushion between them and the relegation playoff spot a single point in their last two games will ensure their safety.  Taiwo Awoniyi will miss this one due to concussion while Ridle Baku and Edimilson Fernandes return from suspension.

Werder Bremen enter this match following a hard fought 1-0 loss away to Bayern Munich last week.  Currently sitting in 17th and a point back from the relegation playoff spot they will be fighting hard to take the full three points here. Werder Bremen are expected to have a full strength side for this one.

Werder Bremen have performed well in their previous visits to Mainz winning four of their last six.  Bremen are playing well away from home right now with three straight wins and are unbeaten in their last four.  Mainz meanwhile have lost three straight at home and are winless in their last four home matches.  While it is unlikely Fortuna catch Mainz, the home side will want to secure at least a point here to avoid going into their final match away at Leverkusen needing a point.  Werder Bremen will do everything to get the win here in hopes of grabbing the relegation playoff spot.  Bremen’s form of late will inspire more confidence in bettors and they have a good chance to secure the win here.

Freiburg face an uphill battle at the Allianz Arena where they have drawn one and lost five in their last six visits.

FC Köln vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: FC Köln +175, Draw +270, Eintracht Frankfurt +135

Last Game: Eintracht Frankfurt 2 : 4 FC Köln

FC Köln enter this match following a 3-1 away loss to Bayer Leverkusen.  Köln sit in 13th, safe from relegation and are playing for little more than pride at this point.  Sebastiaan Bornauw and Dominick Drexler both return from suspension for this match.  Marcel Risse and Simon Terodde will both sit this one out due to knee injuries.

Eintracht Frankfurt enter this match following a 2-1 win at home over a struggling Schalke side.  Frankfurt sit in 9th, and at five points back from a Europa League qualification they still have an outside shot at securing a spot in Europe next year.  Daichi Kamada will be unavailable due to suspension.

Köln have had the upper hand when hosting Frankfurt, taking four wins and one draw from their last six matches.

Fortuna Düsseldorf vs Augsburg

Augsburg are coming off a 3-1 loss away at Hoffenheim last week.  Augsburg now sit in 14th and are safe from relegation, therefore playing only for pride at this point.  Tin Jedvaj will be unavailable due to suspension while Fredrik Jensen and Sergio Córdova are listed as doubtful.

Odds: Hertha Berlin +440, Draw +340, Bayer Leverkusen -175

Last Game: Bayer Leverkusen 0 : 1 Hertha Berlin

Hertha Berlin enter this match following a 2-1 away loss at Freiburg, their 3rd straight.  Hertha sit in 11th and their main concern will be finishing ahead of rivals Union Berlin, who sit just one spot behind them.  Matheus Cunha and Marvin Plattenhardt are both recovering from concussions and will be evaluated closer to gametime.

Bayer Leverkusen enter this one following a 3-1 away win at Köln last week.  Leverkusen now sit in 4th, only a single point ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach in 5th, and three points back of RB Leipzig in 3rd.  Lars Bender has been ruled out with a foot injury.

The Olympiastadion has been an enjoyable place for Leverkusen to visit, having won in four of their last six visits.

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: RB Leipzig +115, Draw +260, Borussia Dortmund +210

Last Game: Borussia Dortmund 3 : 3 RB Leipzig

Borussia Monchengladbach enter this match following a 3-0 home win over Wolfsburg.  Monchengladbach remain in 5th place, just a point back of Leverkusen and the final Champions League spot.  Top scorer Alassane Pléa returns from suspension while Nico Elvedi is out with a suspension.  Marcus Thuram has been ruled out with a foot injury and Raffael is listed as doubtful.

Monchengladbach have only visited Paderborn three times total since 2008 and have won both of their league matches.

FC Schalke 04 vs VfL Wolfsburg

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: FC Shalke 04 +480, Draw +300, VfL Wolfsburg -175

Last Game: VfL Wolfsburg 1 : 1 FC Schalke 04

Schalke 04 enter this match on the heels of another disappointing result, having lost 2-1 away to Frankfurt.  Schalke now sit in 10th, and with Europe out of reach will be playing only for pride from here on out.  Daniel Caligiuri returns from suspension for the hosts while Can Bozdogan sits this match out with a suspension.  Benjamin Stambouli is listed as doubtful.

Wolfsburg enter this game following a 3-0 away loss to Borussia Monchengladbach.  Wolfsburg were able to hold on to 6th place due to their superior goal differential, but are now tied on points with 7th place Hoffenheim, and a single point ahead of 8th place Freiburg.  Renato Steffen returns from suspension while Josuha Guilavogui sits this one out due to suspension.

Schalke have enjoyed hosting Wolfsburg recently and have won five and drawn one of their last six meeting at home.
