Bundesliga Week 29 May 30 Betting Preview

VfL Wolfsburg vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: VfL Wolfsburg -110, Draw +270, Eintracht Frankfurt +260

Last Game: 2-0 VfL Wolfsburg on November 23rd 2019

This game sees two teams at opposite ends of the table face off.  VfL Wolfsburg enters this game on the heels of a surprising 4-1 win away at Leverkusen.  Wolfsburg now sit in 6th and a win here could see them pull 6 points clear of 7th place Hoffenhiem.  Midfielder Felix Klaus is still suspended and wont be available.  Eintracht Frankfurt Was able to claw back from a 3-1 deficit to earn a 3-3 draw against Freiburg in mid week in a game that saw Frankfurt pour 35 shots on goal.  The draw allowed Frankfurt to snap a run of 5 straight losses.  Frankfurt currently occupy the 14th spot, sitting 2 points above the relegation zone with a game in hand.  Stefan Ilsanker will sit this one out after being suspended for collecting five yellow cards.

Wolfsburg comes into this game in better form, having the 4th most points in the league over the last 6 games, while Frankfurt come in as the second worst over that span.  Frankfurt have also been the worst team on the road in the Bundesliga this year.  This matchup has been a favorable one for Wolfsburg and they’ve only lost 1 of the last 6 meetings between these two teams in the Volkswagen arena.  Expect a tough fought game with goals in short supply.

Schalke 04 vs Werder Bremen

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: Schalke 04 +160, Draw +220, Werder Bremen +180

Last Game: 2-1 Schalke 04 on November 23rd 2019

These two teams come into this game trending in opposite directions.  Schalke 04 come into this game following yet another disappointing performance in midweek, where they surrendered a 1-0 lead to lowly Fortuna Düsselforf to lose 2-1.  That game extended Schalke’s winless streak to 9 games.  Omar Mascarell and Amine Harit are expected to miss this game as they both work back from injuries.  Werder Bremen has been the most surprising team in the league over the last 2 games collecting another positive result with a draw to top 5 side Borussia Monchelgladbach.  They still sit in 17th, 5 points back of Fortuna Düsseldorf, but with a much softer schedule than Fortuna down the stretch a win here could keep their season alive.  Ludwig Augustinsson will be a game time decision and Milos Veljkovic is suspended for this one.

Werder Bremen have enjoyed their travels to the Veltins-Arena recently, racking up 4 wins and a draw in their last 6 visits.  While Schalke are the better team on paper, their performances have been abysmal of late while Werder has taken 4 of the available 6 points in their last 2 games.  Facing a team this far beneath them in the table will either be just what the doctor ordered or an unmitigated disaster for Schalke.  Expect a hard fought, low scoring game.

Hertha BSC vs Augsburg

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: Hertha BSC -133, Draw +300, Augsburg +333

Last Game: 4-0 Augsburg on November 24th 2019

Two mid table sides meet in this match in what looks to be the closest match of the day.  Hertha come into this game in great form, having collected the 2nd most points in the league since the restart.  They played to a 2-2 draw with RB Leipzig in midweek and are now unbeaten in their last 5.  Marvin Plattenhardt’s status is in doubt after suffering a concussion in the Leipzig match, and Maximilian Mittelstädt will be evaluated closer to game time as he continues to work back from a thigh injury.  Augsburg enter the match following a lackluster 0-0 draw to Paderborn in midweek.  They currently sit in 12th but are only 4 points above the relegation playoff spot, so will feel the pressure to get a result here.  Jeffrey Gouweleeuw will miss this game due to suspension, Alfred Finnbogason is nearing a return from knee injury and may be available, and veteran midfielder Daniel Baier is expected back after resting against Paderborn.

Hertha hold a slight edge in previous meetings, having won 2 and draw 3 times in the last 6 meeting between these two teams.  Hertha hold an advantage in both goals for and against, and given their recent form look to be the better side here.

Mainz 05 vs Hoffenheim

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: Mainz 05 +145, Draw +270, Hoffenheim +170

Last Game: 5- 1 Mainz 05 On November 24th 2019

This match features yet another showdown between teams at opposite ends of the table.  Mainz enter this one following a 1-1 draw to Union Berlin in midweek.  Mainz now sit in 15th, just 1 point above the relegation playoff spot and have draw 3 of their last 4 matches.  Defensive midfielder Danny Latza will miss this one after picking up his 5th yellow card against Union Berlin.  Hoffenheim got back on track with a 3-1 win against FC Köln in midweek and now sit in 7th just 3 points out of the final European spot.  A win here could see them go level with Wolfsburg.    Andrej Kramaric and Sargis Adamyan are both working their way back from injury and are doubtful for this match, and Benjamin Hübner is suspended after collecting a red card in midweek.

This has been a favorable matchup for Mainz 05 when playing at home.  Mainz have won or drawn 5 of the last 6 games against Hoffenheim when playing at home.  Hoffenhiem is the strongest side here and will be motivated to get a result, expect Mainz to fight hard throughout however.

Bayern Munich vs Fortuna Düsseldorf

Time: 12:30 PM EST

Odds: Bayern Munich -1300 , Draw +1000, Fortuna Düsseldorf +2500

Last Game: 4-0 Bayern Munich on November 23rd 2019

The afternoon match sees a Fortuna Düsseldorf side fighting to avoid relegation visit league leaders Bayern Munich.  Bayern comes into this game on the heels of what looks to be a title clinching 1-0 win at Borussia Dortmund in mid week.  Bayern are now unbeaten in their last 14 in all competitions and have won their last 8 straight Bundesliga matches.  Bayern now sit in 1st place with a 7 point lead over Borussia Dortmund and look like they will cruise to yet another title.  Midfielder Thiago is still working his way back from injury and is unlikely to return for this one.  Fortuna Düseldorf enter this match following a surprising 2-1 win against Schalke in midweek.  Currently in 16th but unbeaten in their last 6 Fortuna is desperately trying to overtake Mainz 05, currently 1 point ahead of them, to escape the relegation playoff spot.  USMNT goalie Zach Steffen is still out, while Dawid Kownacki is getting closer to a return from knee injury.

Fortuna has fought well the last couple weeks to try and escape the relegation playoff spot but will be overmatched here.  Bayern have been a force at home again this year, and are unbeaten at the Alianz Arena in their last 8 Bundesliga games.  Fortuna did manage to squeak out a 3-3 draw at the Alianz last year and will be hoping for a similarly positive result here.  Bayern is not the type of teams to take games off, even against relegation probables, so bet against them at your own risk.
