Bundesliga Week 29 May 31 Betting Preview

Borussia Monchengladbach vs 1. FC Union Berlin

Time: 9:30 AM EST

Odds: Borussia Monchengladbach -195 , Draw +325, 1. FC Union Berlin +525

Last Game: 2-0 1. FC Union Berlin on November 23rd 2019

The morning game features two teams at opposite ends of the table both in need of a result to turn around a poor run of form.  Host Borussia Monchengladbach enter this game following a disappointing 0-0 draw to struggling Werder Bremen.  Following a Bayer Leverkusen win yesterday they dropped to 5th, but a win here would see them regain their spot in 4th and a Champions League qualification.  Tony Jantschke will miss this game due to suspension, while Breel Embolo’s status remains in doubt after leaving the Werder game with a knock.

Union Berlin come into this one following a 1-1 draw against Mainz.  Winless in their last six matches, Union remain in 14th and are in desperate need of some positive results to escape the relegation battle.  Robert Andrich is out on suspension, while Keven Schlotterbeck returns from suspension.

This match does not bode well for a Union Berlin side that is one one of the worst runs of form in the league.  These teams have only met three times previously, with Union taking two of those matches, but have never played each other at Borussia-Park.  A motivated Monchengladbach side look to be too much for Union to handle here.

Paderborn vs Borussia Dortmund

Time: 12:00 PM EST

Odds: Paderborn +750, Draw +440, Borussia Dortmund -300

Last Game: 3-3 Draw on November 22nd 2019

The afternoon game also features two sides at opposite ends of the table.  Hosts Paderborn played to their third consecutive draw at Augsburg last week in a goalless affair.  Paderborn remain in last place, eight points from safety and look to be a lock for relegation.  Klaus Gjasula is suspended again for this one after picking up fifteen yellow cards this season.

Borussia Dortmund enter this game following a hard fought game against Bayern Munich, which they ultimately lost 1-0.  Dortmund remain in 2nd and with the title race all but decided they will be looking to secure another year of Champions League football.  Erling Haaland is unavailable after picking up a knock against Bayern, while Matts Hummels is expected to be rested after also picking up a knock.

This looks to be a long afternoon for Paderborn.  These teams have only met six times previously and Paderborn has yet to record a single win.  With their relegation all but assured, they look unlikely to reverse the trend here.
