Time: 2:30 PM EST
Odds: SC Freiburg +340, Draw +300, Borussia Monchengladbach -135
Last Game: 4-2 Borussia Monchengladbach on December 1st 2019
The Bundesliga returns on Friday with an afternoon game between two sides jockying for European spots. Host’s Sc Freiburg enter the game in 8th with 38 points, only 4 points out of 6th and the final European spot. Last week saw them lose at home to Bayer Leverkusen 1-0, and they will need to pick up some points here with Wolfsburg and Hoffenhiem both playing teams likely to be relegated this weekend. Manuel Guide is ruled out with an injury and Janik Haberer’s status is in doubt as he continues to work his way back from injury.
Borussia Monchengladbach enter the game in 4th with 56 points, tied with 5th place Bayer Leverkusen on points but leading in goal differential. Last week they cruised to a comfortable 4-1 win at home against Union Berlin. With Leverkusen playing away at Bayern Munich this weekend, this game is a great opportunity for Borussia Monchengladbach to put some breathing room between themselves and 5th place. Defender Tony Jantschke will be available for this one as he returns from suspension. Breel Embolo and Tobias Strobl are doubtful after picking up injuries last week against Union Berlin.
Expect a close hard fought game here as both teams will be desperate for a result. Borussia Monchengladbach are the stronger side, and are in better form than a Freiburg side who’s only won one of their last 6 matches. Schwarzwald-Stadion has been a difficult place for Monchengladbach to play and they have not recorded a win in their last 6 visits.
