La Liga Matchday 29 June 16 Betting Preview

Villarreal vs Real Mallorca

Time: 1:30 PM EST

Odds: Villarreal -190, Draw +340, Real Mallorca +500

Last Game: Real Mallorca 3 : 1 Villarreal

Watch: beIN Sports

Hosts Villarreal enter this match on the heels of a 1-0 away at Celta Vigo in their return to La Liga play over the weekend.  Villarreal currently sit in 9th but could jump as high as 7th with a win here.  Vicente Iborra will sit this match out due to suspension.

Real Mallorca’s return to play saw them drop 4-0 to league leaders Barcelona at home.  Mallorca remain in 18th but a win here could see them escape the drop zone.  Dani Rodriguez will sit this match out with a suspension.

Villarreal has been solid at home, collecting 22 points in 13 matches, while Mallorca has been the worst team in La Liga away from home this year, managing only 5 points in 13 games.  Villarreal have one of the better offenses in the league, they have scored the 4th most goals in the league to date.  Mallorca meanwhile have the worst defensive unit in the league and have allowed the most goals against to date.  While the visitors will fight hard to escape the drop zone, Villarreal’s offense looks to be too much for the visitors in this one.

Getafe vs Espanyol

Time: 1:30 PM EST

Odds: Getafe -105, Draw +210, Espanyol +340

Last Game: Espanyol 1 : 1 Getafe

Watch: beIN Sports

Host Getafe will be looking to rebound after a 2-1 loss to Granada over the weekend.  Getafe enter this gameweek in 5th and could jump into 4th place and a Champions League spot with a win here.  Xabier Etxeita will sit this one out with a suspension while Mauro Arambarri, Nemanja Maksimovic and Jaime Mata all return from suspension.

Espanyol pisces up a 2-0 victory over Deportivo Alavés in their return to play over the weekend.  Espanyol remain in last place but now sit only three points from 17th place and safety.  Diego Lopez returns from suspension for this game and defender Naldo’s status remains doubtful.

Getafe have enjoyed hosting Espanyol, claiming 4 straight victories at home over the Catalonian side.  To make matters worse for Espanyol they have been on a poor run of form away from home, managing only 4 points in their last 6 road matches.  Getafe have one of the best defensive units in the league, allowing the 4th fewest goals against in this campaign.  Espanyol meanwhile have one of the worst offenses in the league, scoring the 3rd fewest goals to date.  Espanyol will be desperate for a result here, but Getafe is clearly the better side.

Barcelona vs Leganés

Time: 4:00 PM EST

Odds: Barcelona -600, Draw +600, Leganés +1400

Last Game: Leganés 1 : 2 Barcelona

Watch: beIn Sports

Hosts Barcelona returned to La Liga play over the weekend with an impressive 4-0 win away at Mallorca.  Barcelona remain in 1st place with 2 point lead over rivals Real Madrid.  Clement Lenglet returns from suspension while Jordi Alba will sit this one out due to suspension.

Visitors Leganés return to La Liga play got off to a rough start, losing 2-1 at home to Real Valladolid.  Leganés remain in 19th but are only three points from safety.  Dimitrios Siovas and Oscar Rodriguez will both sit this one out on suspension.

Barcelona have only hosted Leganés four times previously, winning all of those matches and outsourcing the visitors by a combined 13 to 3.  Barcelona are undefeated in La Liga at the Nou Camp this year with only a single draw and have won their last six matches in a row.  Leganés meanwhile have one of the worst away records in La Liga.  Expect Barcelona to win and keep a clean sheet in this one.
