Frequently Asked Questions
How do prediction market fees affect my profit?
Each platform charges different fees. Kalshi uses a formula based on contract price volatility, Polymarket US charges a flat 0.1% taker fee, DraftKings charges 2¢ per contract, and FanDuel takes 2% of payouts. These fees reduce your net return and shift the breakeven price higher than your entry price.
What is a contract in prediction markets?
A prediction market contract is a binary instrument that pays $1.00 if the outcome resolves YES and $0.00 if it resolves NO. You buy contracts at a price between 1¢ and 99¢, which reflects the market implied probability. Your profit on a YES resolution is $1.00 minus your purchase price, minus fees.
How do I calculate ROI on a prediction market position?
ROI = (Net P&L / Cost Basis) × 100. If you buy 100 contracts at 40¢ ($40 cost) and they resolve YES for $100, with $2 in fees, your net P&L is $58 and ROI is 145%. This calculator handles the fee math for each platform automatically.
What does breakeven price mean?
The breakeven price is the minimum contract price needed to cover your cost basis plus trading fees. If you enter at 40¢ with $1 in fees on 100 contracts, your breakeven is approximately 41¢. Below this price, you lose money even if you close the position.
Should I trade out of a position or hold to resolution?
Trading out locks in a known profit or loss immediately, while holding to resolution is all-or-nothing. If the current market price is above your entry and you are unsure about the outcome, trading out reduces risk. Use the Traded Out mode to see your P&L at any exit price.
Which prediction market platform has the lowest fees?
Polymarket US currently has the lowest taker fee at 0.1% of contract value. DraftKings charges 2¢ per contract regardless of price. Kalshi fees vary by price point (highest near 50¢, lowest near 1¢ or 99¢). Use the Compare Platforms toggle to see the fee impact across all five platforms for your specific position.
What is the P&L waterfall chart?
The waterfall chart visualizes how your position value flows from entry cost through gross return, fee deductions, and final net result. Each bar represents a component of the calculation, making it easy to see where your money goes and how much fees consume.
How do I compare the same trade across platforms?
Enable the Compare Platforms toggle to see a ranked table showing the net P&L, ROI, and fee breakdown for the same position (entry price, contracts, resolution) across all five supported platforms. The platform with the highest net P&L ranks first.
