Editorial Policy
How we source data, write content, and maintain independence.
Editorial Independence
OddsReference aggregates data from multiple prediction market platforms without favoring any single one. Our analytics dashboard, content articles, platform rankings, and tool calculations are driven by data and editorial judgment — never by commercial relationships.
Affiliate relationships do not influence editorial content. We maintain affiliate partnerships with some platforms we cover (disclosed in our Affiliate Disclosure). Whether a platform is an affiliate partner has zero impact on how their data is displayed on our dashboard, how they are ranked in comparisons, or how they are reviewed in articles. Platforms that are not affiliate partners receive identical analytical treatment.
How We Source Data
Our analytics platform pulls data through direct technical integrations:
- Polymarket: Direct CLOB API integration for real-time prices, plus Gamma API for market metadata. On-chain trade data indexed directly from Polygon smart contracts (CTF Exchange and NegRisk CTF Exchange).
- Kalshi: Direct REST API integration with cursor-based pagination. Prices normalized from cents (1-99) to decimals (0.00-1.00).
- Metaculus: API integration pulling community prediction medians. Authenticated access for aggregation data.
- Sports odds: Multiple data providers covering 30+ leagues and 18 sportsbooks.
All data is processed through our normalization pipeline, which converts platform-specific formats into a unified schema. Our 6-tier matching engine identifies identical markets across platforms automatically, enabling cross-platform comparisons.
How We Write Content
Our content library spans six verticals: prediction markets, sports betting, DFS, sweepstakes casinos, online poker, and platform comparisons. Every article follows these standards:
Data-Backed Claims
Factual claims are supported by verifiable data: platform documentation, regulatory filings, our own analytics data, or cited third-party sources. We do not publish unsourced statistics or unverifiable claims.
Platform Neutrality
Platform reviews and comparisons present documented features, fees, and regulatory status. We do not declare a platform "the best" without specifying the criteria. Comparison rankings are transparent about methodology and weighting.
Regulatory Accuracy
Legal and regulatory information (state legality, licensing status, age requirements) is verified against official state gaming commission records and regulatory filings. We update legal status articles as regulations change.
Clear Disclaimers
Content involving financial risk (prediction market trading, sports betting, casino games) includes appropriate disclaimers. We do not present gambling as an income source or investment strategy.
Corrections Policy
We take accuracy seriously. When we identify an error in published content:
- Factual errors are corrected promptly. The article's "Last Updated" date is refreshed to reflect the correction.
- Outdated information (e.g., changed platform fees, updated regulatory status) is updated as part of our regular content maintenance cycle.
- Material corrections that significantly change the article's conclusions are noted with an editor's note at the top of the article.
To report an error, contact hello@oddsreference.com with the article URL and the nature of the correction.
Data Dashboard Standards
The live analytics dashboard at oddsreference.com/dashboard follows separate but equally rigorous standards:
- Market data is refreshed at regular intervals from source APIs
- All platforms are displayed using the same visualization and ranking logic
- Whale tracking data comes directly from blockchain events, not platform-reported data
- The SIGNAL index uses a transparent, formula-based methodology applied uniformly across all markets
- System health is monitored via automated watchdogs with public status reporting at
/api/v1/health
Interactive Tools
Our calculator tools use documented mathematical formulas (expected value, Kelly criterion, implied probability, etc.) with no hidden adjustments. Platform fee data used in calculators is sourced from official platform documentation and updated when fee structures change.
